People were able to treat cavities as early as 14,000 years ago

Scientists have found that people who lived around 14,000 years ago were able to perform simple operations of dental treatment, particularly in the fight against cavities.

In 1988, Italian archaeologists had discovered the skeleton of a person that had lived thousands of years ago.

The latest research results of this skeleton have revealed that a tooth of this person had cavities, but most of the damaged bone tissues of this tooth had been removed with stone tools.

Scientists believe that this discovery proves that the ancient people knew about the dangers of cavities, and therefore they attempted to treat them with the means available at the time.
