Cat has helped open a new element in the periodic table
Bernard Courtois, a French-born, back in 1811 spent some chemical experiments, and his pet cat was sitting on his shoulders. Suddenly, a knock at the door, scared the cat jumped down from the shoulders of a chemist, and smashed the flask stood on the table with chemicals. In one of these flasks was alcoholate of algae and other sulfate salt of iron.
Contents mixed, began a violent reaction with smoke. When the reaction took place, and the smoke settled, the scientist saw on the table brown crystals. The crystals were then called - "iodine". So the cat has helped open a new element in the periodic table. It is a pity that the name of the cat has not been preserved in history.
