An Electronic Paper

Electronic paper is thin and light like paper but can display a variety of electronic data after repeated erasure. There are two main types of electronic paper: one based on particle migration and the other on liquid crystals. In the particle migration system, black and white particles in transparent microcapsules are transferred with the application of voltage, making it suitable for text display. In the liquid crystal system, voltage is used to reflect or pass specific colors and is suited to displays of color images. Electronic paper may find future applications in personal computers, mobile phones, magazines, and credit cards.
