The most visited museums of the world 

 

Despite the world crisis, which has forced many tourists to cut down expenses on trips, museums still continue to remain popular.

The English magazine The Art Newspaper has published the list of the most visited museums in 2009:

  1. The Louvre, Paris - 8,5 million visitors
  2. The British Museum, London - 5,5 million visitors
  3. The Metropolitan Museum, New York - 4,8 million visitors
  4. National Gallery of London – 4,78 million visitors
  5. The Tate Modern Museum , London - 4,74 million visitors
  6. National Gallery of Arts of Washington - 4,6 million visitors
  7. The Centre Pompidou, Paris - 3,5 million visitors
  8. The Orsay Museum, Paris - 3 million visitors
  9. The Prado Museum, Madrid - 2,76 million visitors
  10. National Museum of Korea,  Seoul - 2,7 million visitors

Three basic museums of Paris have collected 15 million visitors for a year. The experts mark - in spite of the fact that all these museums are well-known for the constant expositions, they receive a considerable quantity of visitors thanks to time exhibitions.
