Generative artificial intelligence will replace office workers

Generative artificial intelligence mainly threatens jobs related to office work: more than 25% of tasks can be completely replaced by it, and more than 50% can be partially replaced. As RIA Novosti reports, this is stated in the report published on the website of the International Labor Organization (ILO).
"Office work appears to be the category most affected by AI technologies, with almost a quarter of tasks considered high impact and more than half of tasks having a medium impact level. In other professional categories, especially among managers, specialists and technical specialists, only a small part of the tasks are considered high risk, while about a quarter of them have a medium level of exposure," the document says.
The organization's research also shows that the share of women's employment that could be affected by automation is more than twice that of men's because of the "overrepresentation" of women in office jobs, especially in high- and middle-income countries.
According to the ILO, the overall impact of this technology is not likely to be job destruction, but potential changes in the quality of jobs, including labor intensity and autonomy.
According to the paper, 5.5% of total employment in high-income countries is potentially affected by technological automation, while about 0.4% of jobs in low-income countries are threatened by automation.
