Artificial  intelligence  has read  the first  word of an ancient manuscript

The first ancient text of the Herculaneum library, lost during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, has been restored. The researchers, using artificial intelligence technology, deciphered the word "πορφύρακ" (purple) from charred manuscripts, reports The Guardian.
The "Vesuv" program, which was developed by scientists from the University of Kentucky, accelerated the reading process. Student participants Luke Faritor and Youssef Nader were the first to discover the ancient Greek word "πορφυρακ" meaning "purple," earning $40,000 and $10,000 respectively, Planet Today reported.
It is expected that more texts will become available thanks to the new technology. This discovery is reviving interest in unknown aspects of ancient times and may shed light on ancient works of history and literature.
