A Japanese company has developed a motorcycle that can climb stairs

At the Japanese Mobility Show event , Suzuki presented a new type of car concept , codenamed MOQBA . The abbreviation means "modular four-column architecture". In fact, it is almost a robot that independently chooses the method of movement and balance in space, using different limb designs.
With MOQBA, the main frame is independently attached to the chassis to always maintain a stable position in space. This is so that the passenger does not have to exert effort to stay in place in a safe position. The limbs of the machine are equipped with wheels for movement on smooth surfaces, but they have three degrees of freedom for stabilization on uneven surfaces.
MOQBA 's maximum speed is limited to 32 km / h , and its range on a single battery charge is no more than 80 km. It can be carried by only one person without specifying the weight. However, the advantage of such a system is that a person does not need to control it precisely, it is enough to define the route. This makes it possible to transport people with limited mobility or the injured, including those who are lying down.
MOQBA is the platform on which commercial versions of walking transportation systems will be created. The main market is likely to be Japan, where the number of elderly people who need to be transported regularly to medical facilities is steadily increasing. However, this problem is typical of all developed countries, and Suzuki 's development will certainly be in demand.
