A Belgian company has developed a gun with a "smart" target

The Belgian FN Herstal arms company has developed a gun with a "smart" digital target. It can recognize a person's head in its optical field and block the shot.
As Techcult reports, non-lethal weapons are primarily needed by the police to quell mass riots. Its developers must maintain a narrow margin to ensure that the injury caused never becomes fatal. There are many examples where a blow to the head by a rubber or plastic ball has resulted in death.
The Herstal Smart ProtectorR-303T air rifle fires 12.55 mm FN SP elastomer cartridges at ranges of 5 to 25 m. It is intended for police units involved in crowd control. On impact, the projectile provides a stopping effect, but excludes a penetrating effect.
A special feature of this weapon is the presence of an electro-optical sight with a built-in camera and a visualization program, which ensures the registration of the moment of pointing the gun at a person's head. In this case, the shooter first receives a sound warning, after which the trigger mechanism is automatically blocked. In addition, the camera captures the moment of the shooting in case of possible court proceedings.
