Taiwan in 2026 will begin mass production of unmanned combat boats

Taiwan's military-industrial complex is studying the experience of using unmanned combat boats of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and plans to start their serial production in 2026. "Taipei Shibao" newspaper informed about this.
According to the newspaper, the work of the project is managed by the Zhongshan Institute of Science and Technology of Taiwan (NCSIST). As the sources of the periodical informed, 812 million New Taiwan dollars (about 25.14 million dollars) were allocated for the creation of two prototypes. Operators will be able to remotely control the boats from a distance of 70 kilometers, receiving video images from the cameras in real-time mode.
The devices will perform many tasks of patrolling and protecting the water basin, carry out attacks against the surface ships of the enemy, as well as search for sea mines and submarines. Serial production of unmanned boats will begin after the tests are completed.
The interlocutors of the newspaper noted that the institute also creates submarines without a crew.
